Mr. Gay's Educational Biography
I graduated from Clearwater Christian College with a degree in Social Studies Education in 2004. After graduation, I traveled to southern China to teach English and Social Studies courses at Neusoft Institute of Information Technology. This was a great cultural and educational experience and I highly encourage students to consider either studying or teaching abroad if they have the opportunity.
I returned to the US in 2007 to pursue my masters in History at High Point University. While attending graduate school, I also taught ESL classes part-time at Forsyth Tech Community College and served as a substitute teacher for Guilford, Forsyth and Yadkin County, North Carolina. Upon graduation from HPU in 2010, I decided to return to southern China for one school year to teach.
I returned to the U.S. in the summer of 2011. In the fall I began teaching history part-time for Forsyth Tech Community College, in connection with Forsyth Early College, located in Winston-Salem, NC. Seeking full-time employment, I was then fortunate enough to be hired by Bertie Early College in 2012 to teach Social Studies, where I remained until 2016. Now I'm teaching Social Studies at Pitt Early College and am excited to have the opportunity to work with our wonderful students as we strive to thoughtfully engage in the classroom, learn about Social Studies in creative and relevant ways, and strive toward making sure that each student is prepared for college, careers, and life.
